These intricate silver filigree earrings were handmade in Oaxaca, Mexico, and were made by an artisan I was introduced to there named, Cesar. Work in filigree is verytraditional to this part of Mexico andwas brought to Mexico by the Spanish after the conquest. Cesar takes silverthreads and coils them into intricate designs. Accessorieslike these silver filigree earrings by Cesar werefavorites of Frida Kahlo, the famous surrealist painter, and often part of hertraditional Tehuana attire which is from a region in the state of Oaxaca.
